It was rare that Guiding interfered directly with the humans. Normally, all it did was gathered them up once they died, and returned them to the start to try and find their way through once more. It gave its advice and sent them off with gentle murmurs of encouragement they would never remember.
Jeff could take care of himself. Guiding knew this. Even if he was peaceful, choosing to assist human visitors instead of fighting them like many of the other entities did, he was far from helpless.
That didn’t mean it wouldn’t step in if he was harmed. -

"The Human slid through the next room, and then the lights flickered. This was a sign of either Ambush or Rush, usually, so they were already sliding towards the closet when they had an idea. They’re pretty sure they’re currently quicker than the majority of the entities here, so... they could probably outrun whoever came, couldn’t they?
They had a few seconds to plan and decide if it was an awful idea or not, which was not nearly enough, but they had a feeling they’d reach the same conclusion if they had more time. “This is... an awful idea", they paused "I’m gonna do it.”
A blue light appeared a few metres away from them, whispering a quiet “What are you going to do, Hum-”, before being cut off by the realisation that Rush had been screaming for a few seconds now. Darned music."
(OR The Human does not know what modifiers are, and Guiding Light doesn’t either. Equipping three random ones at the same time proved to not be a good idea.)
