But Steve knows he's pretty attractive, that Eddie is obviously attracted to him if the unholy amount of sex they have is any indication. Plus, Eddie is always telling him how gorgeous he is. It's just that Steve knows he's not Eddie's type. He's seen the guys Eddie used to filter through, and he's not like any of them. He doesn't listen to Metallica or Black Sabbath. He doesn't read Lord of the Rings or play Dungeons and Dragons. He doesn't wear leather jackets or loads of silver jewelry. He doesn't have cool tattoos or wear eyeliner. He's just Steve.
He's not what Eddie should be with by the looks of them. And it weighs on Steve heavily some days. He feels inadequate at times, and it's nothing Eddie has done to make him feel that way. It's just the way Steve is. He blames it on a childhood of never being wanted and many relationships that ended that way as well. So sometimes, when Steve sees Eddie talking with a guy who's very obviously flirting with him, his mood falters a little.

Now, Eddie and Steve are meeting up in an abandoned shed outside the Hideout once a week to scream at one another until they can be civil in front of the kids.
It’s not going well.
(Or, Steve and Eddie keep getting into fights, and Steve slowly begins to realize maybe he likes tusslin’ with Eddie a little too much.)
