No sooner did he think that than the beast growled again, but that time, it was a low and almost indecent sound, somehow sounding to Joe’s ears like a promise– a terrible promise that, if fulfilled, would leave him utterly unrecognizable to anyone who had ever known him.
The horror he felt at the idea of that outcome could perhaps best be described as half-hearted.

Summary
Overseeing the Eastborough red-eye, the last train out of London, train guard Joe is having the shift from hell. Denied a promotion, intimidated into a double shift by his lecherous boss, disparaged by the passangers. Joe's pretty sure his night couldn't get any worse when suddenly the train screeches to a halt. Stranded in the middle of a forest during a storm, Joe's nightmare has just begun. Joe and the passenagers must not only grapple with bloodthirsty monsters attacking from the outside but with a sinster threat lurking amongst them as well.
