Joule's hand tightened in her collar, yanking Slick forward just enough that she ended up on her toe stops. Her expression was full of fury and hurt. "Don't you dare turn this into some sick game!"
"Why not?" Slick hissed, eyes wild now, angry tears gathering at the corners. "I wrecked your boss! The great Electra, shining star of the future. You want to punish me for that? Fine. Be my guest!"
Joule's jaw tensed. Her grip tightened just enough that Slick's heart hammered harder against her frame. "You think this is about punishment?" She spat. "You think I came here to give you what you want?"
"I think," Slick said, voice careful, bitter, "you hate me so much it's killing you. And that maybe, just maybe, that's the only thing keeping me standing right now."

It’s been four months, three days, and nearly an hour and a half since Electra determined that Evergreen would not be staying at the Troubadour. A decision not made lightly, and one that they should definitely be able to move on from.
An unopened packet of cigarettes - not even a brand Porter liked, but quintessential all the same - found, twenty chances for Electra to move on.
When they reach zero, Evergreen will be wiped from their memory. It's for the best.

The shed felt- sterile almost. Despite the trance she seemed to be under, she couldn’t help but notice the way their components looked at her. She struggled to read their expressions, was it judgement, or hatred, jealousy or just simple acknowledgement of her presence. Whatever it was, it was unsettling. Nothing like the way Rusty or the coaches looked at her, starlight she’d even prefer the way Greaseball and the other engines looked at her, at least then she could tell what was on their minds. The components were completely unreadable. In fact, she could barely tell them apart. She figured if she ever had to talk to them she’d just have to guess which one it was.

We all know how Make Up My Heart ends, with Pearl choosing Electra as her partner. But what might’ve happened if she chose Rusty instead?
The answer: Things literally and figuratively go downhill for everyone.
Both Rusty and Pearl are wrongly accused of causing a serious crash in the final. Rusty is banished from the yard, and Pearl is shut away in “The Box”, where she meets two older Coaches who tell her to clear Rusty’s name.
Pearl takes up a false identity, re-enters the yard, and sets about trying to find what (or who) really caused the crash. But the deeper she dives, the weirder the truth gets…
