Alexios never considered forgiveness a priority as Deimos. He achieved his target goals for the cult, for a destiny he believed he was a part of. For a farce. He could see the uneasiness at times, under the reassuring gazes and loving embraces of his mother and sister. He could see the deep-seated regret in his father's eyes each time they made eye contact. He never missed the trepidation and the mistrust in Brasidas' eyes, no matter how polite and kind the Spartan General was to him on behalf of Kassandra. His soon-to-be brother-in-law would do anything to please Kassandra, even playing nice with his almost murderer. Stentor paid him no mind and he honestly cared less about the man's opinion
The only one who didn't pretend to be kind was the healer hired by his sister to treat him after a run in with another mercenary. She worked quietly, with complete disinterest in walking on egg shells around the once-believed demigod, instead all she saw was a man and a purse full of drachmae for her work. Alexios found himself drawn to her house more often than not, looking for excuses to patron her. Why? He wasn't sure, but here he was.

When it comes out is nothing more than a whisper, his stance is still tense, one foot already closer to the door, ready to go after his sister and leave this heavy stillness behind.
Nikolaos’s hand is still hanging mid air, where his arm was a few second ago. Alexios meets his gaze for just a second, too brief to read anything but sadness in his eyes. He looks somehow mollified and actually his age for once, stripped of his feared general persona for once and just standing silent in the empty spaces of a house he once called his.
Alexios has no time for his remorse now, he needs to find his sister and make sure she’s okay. He turns his back on Nikolaos and he’s met with his mother’s heartbroken expression, tears in her eyes and something like disbelief marking the edge of her tight frown.
