Summary
After losing his partner in a field mission, Psychonaut agent Guybrush Threepwood finds himself in a slump. With Nelson declared dead, his only wish now is to get a sense of closure absent from the man's sudden disappearance. So when Otto approaches him with an opportunity to see a Nelson - not his, but one from a dimension he never existed in - Guybrush jumps at the chance. Little does he know that entering psychic experiments while in such an emotional state will lead him to the edges of madness and back, and strange abilities he never had back home. And lets not forget convenient amnesia, because where would our story be if he knew everything from the start?
Meanwhile, fresh off his Scoggins return, Nelson finds himself fractured. Torn between being awake and being asleep as this stranger possesses his body, with only his new friend Jim in his corner to help him sort through this newfound double life - as the hottest, faster superhero on the scene, Superguy!

A drain on psychic power alongside a sudden cold front has plunged the Motherlobe into flickering darkness. In order to solve this (or maybe to just get them out of her hair) Hollis sends the unlikely duo of Guybrush and Nelson to find a solution in Otto Mentallis lab.
Fortunately this is also happening around the same time Nelson is beginning to have flashbacks to the events of Scoggins, which is absolutely not affecting him or his actions here. Absolutely not. ESPECIALLY not when bottled emotions get involved, no sir.

Agent Nelson Tethers has settled into the Psychonauts lifestyle, or at least, is cautiously optimistic. Instead of having an ideal vacation while undergoing a dry period between cases, Nelson has been recruited to attend a film festival celebrating the strange movies of the late Trenton Brooks. Getting an autograph for Eddie shouldn't be difficult, and it'll be a step in facing his fears: surely the entire state of Minnesota isn't infested with gnomes.
Soon after arriving, Nelson receives a message through the static, pleading for his help. Has he finally lost it, or are there sinister forces encroaching on yet another small rural Minnesotan town?(The Wildcard au was created by Genaleah on tumblr, I am merely a raccoon nesting in a house while the owners are away)
