Almost thirty years ago, a town magically appeared in the corner of Maine. And while the wizards at MACUSA certainly noticed the disturbance, the report was buried under piles of bureaucracy, waves from the great British Insurgency by that one Dark Lord, and the celebrations of that very Dark Lord's defeat spanning the last two years and counting.

Summary
Even when she was being shuffled from foster home to foster home, Emma was writing. Her head was always full of stories, usually variations of the more commonly known fairy tales. Of all the characters whose stories she has written, the Evil Queen has always been her favorite. So when the son she gave up years ago finds her and claims his adoptive mother is the Evil Queen from her stories, she's thrilled. And terrified. Regina Mills is more complex than even Emma had realized, and she now has a son begging her to break a curse and putting himself in danger to try to break it on his own when she refuses. What the hell is she supposed to do in this situation?
And with the intervention of a bookworm, a thief, and a pirate, things go downhill fast.
