What happens after Remus and Sirius are reunited in Prisoner of Azkaban? Sirius didn't have anywhere to go so he starts staying with Remus, but the catch is, they're barely speaking. An awkward vibe fills the room every time they try for a meaningful conversation, so they don't. One day about a month after Sirius moves in Remus finally snaps and talks to him properly, it doesn't go how either of them expected it to.

Summary
At the end of his third year, Harry receives a letter from the Dursleys, stating that he has been disowned. In a spectacular display of not giving one fuck, Dumbledore sends him back to their home anyway, despite either Harry's or the Dursleys' wishes. This decision goes decidedly not too well for anyone involved.
It is through the events that follow that Severus Snape learns that there is more to Harry than he'd thought- he was more Lily than he'd thought, and the James in the boy wasn't necessarily as bad as he had previously believed. Harry, in turn, also has several revelations about his not-so-evil potions professor, and discovers more about himself and his mother through them.

Sirius meets Remus after breaking out of Azkaban, and they finally have their long-awaited conversation (read: apology-fest) after the incident at the Shrieking Shack.
Extract:
Remus sighed as he looked at the paper in his hands, covered with swirly calligraphy, detailing that Sirius would likely contact Remus soon, signed A.D.
The sight of the paper prompted two thoughts to pop up in his head:
First, detailing was the wrong word given the circumstances, as the paper contained less information and more of an educated guess that even Remus could have made in his sleep, thank you very much.
The second, was:

Which, while not eloquent, was entirely appropriate.

After Peter Pettigrew confessed to everything in front of the ministry, Sirius Black's sentence was revoked. Now, Harry gets to live with his godfather and leave the Dursley's for the first time in his life. But, for whatever reason, the two of them are going to be living with Remus Lupin too. Not that Harry minds, as long as he gets to leave the Dursley's.

"I missed you so much."
The whisper was almost unheard, a mournful admission spoken from the heart. All Remus could do was hold him tighter, as if he could protect him from the horrors of the world, and reassure him over and over again that no matter what happened he would never leave his side again.
The problem with promises of that magnitude is that they are incredibly hard to keep. -
