Summary
For the first time in her life, Penelope doesn't know what to feel.
Time has been lost to her since her husband returned back to Ithaca. Despite having him in her arms again, she spends almost every second fearing he will slip away again, disappearing right between her fingers into the air, never to be seen again. Each morning, she thanks the fates that he is there with her when she awakes. Each night she whispers a prayer thanking the Gods for allowing him to come back to her at last.

Penelope waited until Telemachus was gone and walked to the center of the room, to the banquet table adorned with the cleanest body around (a death quicker than it deserved). The fallen form of Antinous. She pulled his head up by the hair so she could stare directly at him. It made a loud bang as it hit the wooden table again. Odysseus could understand her actions, even as she spit on his face. The following though, it made him lost. Penelope pushed herself up on the table, sitting right next to Antinous body, and opened her legs.
“Come here.”
Odysseus was nothing if not obedient to his wife.

He knows it's his father. He knows that the man is Odysseus, finally back home after twenty years. He knows that the very palace he calls home was built by this man, brick by brick. And yet he can't shake the feeling that he doesn't know this man.

I have been going insane about Odysseus and Telemachus' relationship after he returns and had to get my thoughts out. They're both hurting and their relationship is complicated, but they'll find a way to make it work.

Summary
Ten nights after his father returns, Telemachus lays in bed for a long time, the moonlight creeps in his window and he can hear the faintest sound of wind over the waves.
If he tricks himself, he can convince himself that he’s unable to hear the singing coming from down the hall. It’s his mother, there’s no doubt. The song isn’t Ithacan, but Spartan. And it’s the same song she used to sing to him when he was younger and scared of monsters under the bed or when he was older and nursing a black eye from the suitors.

Odysseus has been fighting to reunite with his family for twenty years. He has lost his best friend, his mentor, his mom, and all six hundred of his men. This is the direct aftermath of returning home after two decades of trauma and pain. Lots of hurt/comfort, Penelope being the best and most wonderful human/wife, and Odysseus just generally having a bad time.
