King Regis notices that his son, Noctis is smiling more nowadays. He would often see him glued to his phone, typing with a smile on his face or grinning at Ignis when the advisors says he’s free for the day. Knowing his son would evade his probing, he does the next logical thing.

Turns out, his son has a new friend. A certain ‘Prompto Argentum’. While Regis was sure his son would introduce this said friend when he thinks the time is right, he couldn’t help resist going incognito and get to know this ‘Prompto’ himself, much to the chagrin of his Shield.
Or the three times King Regis met Prompto.

Prompto increased his running speed as soon as the school came into view. Almost there, he can actually make it in time, with a leeway of five minutes.
Suddenly, Prompto’s felt the heel of his foot slip on something and then he was leaning backwards. He had half of a mind to register that he was in fact falling down on hard pavement when he instinctively put out his right hand to try and break the fall.
Apparently, that was the wrong thing to do because the instant Prompto’s hand met the pavement, he felt a pop and the next thing he knew, pain was spreading on his right arm.
It hurt.
“Ow.” Prompto hissed, cradling his right arm. “Damn, it hurts.”

Summary
In a grand gesture of peace, King Regis invites royalty from all across Eos to come together in the Lucian capital of Insomnia to celebrate the 16th birthday of his son, Noctis Lucis Caelum.
The only thing more surprising than the King extending an invitation to the infamous Emperor of Niflheim, would have to be when Iedolas accepts; and not only does he accept, but he reveals that he will be bringing along his own son, who's existence had previously been unknown to anyone outside the Empire.
Will a chance encounter with the Niff Prince, be enough to change the Lucian Prince's preconceived opinions of Niflheim? Or will it confirm everything Noctis thought he knew about the far away kingdom of snow and ice?

He wakes on Shiva’s night.Prompto Argentum is the ‘Empty Prince’, the bastard son of the late Niflheim emperor, Emperor Besithia. Even royal by blood, his own father and the other nobles treat him as if he doesn’t exist. He doesn’t have anything worthy of a prince. The only noteworthy things he has are his quicksilver gun and his iron boots.
So he dreams.
In his dreams, he is in another kingdom. He pets dogs of a very beautiful lady and his brother, friends to a handsome prince and his loyal retainers and is happily in love with the said prince. Also, he plays tag with a fox-like creature called Carbuncle.
When said dream creature appears to him in flesh one day, he is given the choice to leave his current life behind; to go to the prince of his dreams and break the enchantment keeping the prince in eternal sleep.
So off he goes to Insomnia, a kingdom far, far away and further still.

Right from the start, Noctis knew he hated the Keep. But it didn’t matter how much he despised it, Prompto was waiting in there in gods-know-what condition. He’d failed as a friend. Failed to see through Ardyn’s illusion. Failed to dodge the attack that knocked him out. Failed to go after Prompto.
Noctis runs himself ragged looking for Prompto in Zegnautus Keep.
