Zitra finally looked away from their notes and turned their gaze to the Chancellor. “Lapin. Should I tell you the truth, or should I tell you something that won’t upset you?”
Lapin’s expression was unreadable. “Always tell the truth, young Zitra. It’s much easier that way.”
Zitra let out a huff of air. “Okay. They’ve been gone pretty much the whole time.”
“Ah,” the Chancellor said primly.
(Zitra has been acting as Lapin's apprentice for the past six years. When they find out about the royal envoy to Comida, they try their best to make sure they don't get left behind.)

Toby approaches him, nods, and walks past, and Lapin begins to turn his attention back to the window, but then the footsteps stop. There's a pause, and Lapin can hear the thoughts grinding in his head. The footsteps start up again, moving back towards him. Lapin sighs.
Sir Toby is standing in front of him, sheepish. Or, as visibly sheepish as Sir Toby can get, which isn't much, but compared to his normal business-like expression, is quite noticeable.
"Primogen Lapin," he starts hesitantly, before visibly rallying, "I need your help."
