Summary
In a world that ended before our heroes even met, the dragon knights have been scattered far and wide by the seemingly random opening and closing of Rift portals. Monsters have taken over the now alien landscape, permanently changed by some unknown force. What people remain stay close to each other in small settlements just to survive.
Having been transported across the country, Sammie just wants to find a way home to Thornvale. Luckily, she soon finds a traveling companion, a kind, older man named Stanley. Still, there's something odd about him, and Sammie's keeping a few secrets of her own.
Will they make it to Thornvale? Will it be the same as they left it?

Somehow, the escape from the Order Base goes even worse. Not only is Sammie trapped in the Rift, but Bjorn and Henry are left behind.
Now it's up to the rest of the fort break them out, but it's not going to be easy. The Order knows they're coming and the magic they need is in short supply.
Meanwhile, Bjorn finds himself unwittingly at the center of the Order's plan to get their Oracle back. With Henry's life being threatened, he's forced to make a choice. Cooperate and ruin his chance of being rescued, or resist and risk the life of someone close to him.
