Summary
A songfic based on Paul Williams' song (the one this entire thing is named after). All the bold, italicised parts are song lyrics and, therefore, belong to and are intellectual property of Paul Williams. The idea behind it is deaf!Dave and mute!John. Bro is Dave's legal guardian and the owner of a modestly successful music store. John is an employee at said store, in charge of setting up displays and keeping things in relative order on the shelves.

Once there was a prompt on the kinkmeme for a single father Dave fic and someone started filling it and then someone else filled it and they were both really good, but I liked the concept going in the uncompleted one and kind of wanted to go for something similar, but I wanted single father John instead because blah. Anyway yes that's what it is, other characters may enter.

The wind makes you cry.
Not really cry, Striders don’t do that, but whenever the wind decides to start playing with your hood or your scarf, or sends leave skittering across your feet, you kind of… break.

Summary
Oh, hey, it's a disembodied hand floating through space, no big deal, Dave can roll with that. It'd be pretty great if the hand didn't want to grab his sweet godtier cape and nearly pull him over backwards, but manners must not be a big thing in the handbook on how to be a ghostly apparition of a limb.

Summary
There have always been musicians playing at the subway station; the has-been's, the wanna-be's, the guitarists that have a little talent, but only know three songs. They've been there for as long as you can remember. But one day, when you are about 20, you finally hear something fantastic: a keyboard, played by none other than a certain John Egbert.
