Pure Vanilla didn’t know when it began. One night, his dreams stopped being his own — fragments of a starry sky, a luminous cookie… one he longed for, yet could never touch.

Her staff was raised, before she hesitated. Did she have to check up on Fount? She could just leave that alone, and come back to it when she could.
No, what was she thinking? Of course she had to visit them. It had been ages since she last saw them, and she was technically their mother. Of course she had to go.
Fount of Knowledge, wherever you may be, She thought. I will come.

Summary
Pure Vanilla is an adventurer looking for an artifact that will aid one of his friends; an ancient spellbook guarded by a basilisk. The basilisk, as it turns out, was far more intelligent than anyone originally thought. Though his friends encourage him otherwise, he seeks to befriend the basilisk, and uncover what happened to it, the ruins, and the author of the spellbook.
Shadow Milk is pretty displeased with this whole situation. Once the most powerful mage to ever live, now cursed to slowly go insane in a body that cannot even speak, with the most cliche condition to end the curse he's ever seen, and he must now rely on a lowly human to help him out. Even if he finally managed to luck out with a human both unaffected by his curse and brave enough to step foot into the ruins, it's not like this crazy fool would kiss a beast like him!

Their voice soft and melodic, like the singing of sirens of the dark sea.
“Kids? Can you hear me?” The ghost stepped forward, and Strawberry immediately ducked behind Gingerbrave, “I mean no harm. Let me guide you out, alright? Hello?”
“This place is dangerous, or are you looking for someone?” The faceless stranger laughed sweetly, too sweetly, “hello there? Earthbread to kiddos?”
At the prospect of help, Gingerbrave, ever the brave one, reluctantly looked up, “hello? Who— Who are you?”
Somehow, the moment his eyes met the shadow, it vanished.
