Summary
You wake with a jolt on an unfamiliar island, reeling from the helicopter crash that somehow didn't kill you. You weren't the only survivor, though, as you find Kelvin nearby in less-than-desirable shape. You get him to his feet and now you have to survive. At least you have each other.

He always knew he was going to die one day. Almost certainly before Astarion. Probably soon.
That’s why he knew it was safe—to love Astarion wretchedly, desperately, the way he could only love something that he’d soon lose. As long as he could see exactly how it would end, he could shape himself around that pain and contain it. He’s had practice.
This is how it ends. Tav was supposed to be ready.

You retired to your tent early that evening, intent on reading a few of the books you rescued from the rotting upper floor of the church. You lit candles, adjusted your cushions and fur, before settling in for a long night of reading by flickering dim light.
You didn't get more than a quarter of a chapter into the book before a pale hand parted your tent flap from the fabric wall. The motion drew your attention just as Astarion let himself inside, unannounced and--
He rubbed at his cheek, smearing glittering tears away.
"Oh," you said intelligently.

Summary
Astarion is struck down whilst the party is exploring the Shadow cursed Lands and ends up in a bad way. Unwittingly, he is left to hang up his pride and accept his companion's help. But after 200 years of near constant pain, he finally discovers that it can be more bearable if you have people, and perhaps a specific someone, to help you through it.
aka: Astarion is injured, becomes ill, and (mostly) Tav takes care of him.
