The shrill ring of the school bell reaches his ears, and a flood of kids hurry out of the building, backpacks jumping up and down on their shoulders. A few minutes later, just as Jason is beginning to get annoyed, he sees the eleven-year-old confidently walking down the steps of the school, his head raised high in clear superiority. He regards his schoolmates as if they’re worms pressed under his feet.
