Summary
“I wish you loved yourself enough so you could love me too.” Satoru whispered, his hands squeezing Suguru's in his own as he tries to meet Suguru's avoidant eyes.
“I do love you.” Suguru whispered back, his dark eyes finally choosing to settle on Satoru's eyes that were filled with tears.
“It doesn’t feel that way..”
“No, don't say that. I love you..” Suguru breathes out, his voice cracking, “don’t say that.”
Satoru allowed a moment of silence to fill the air, tears were spilling from his eyes as he struggled to understand how Suguru could love him but also want to leave him here, alone. He couldn´t wrap his head around it, couldn´t figure out how Suguru was so okay with this, so calm about everything.
“You’re going to kill yourself anyway, what’s the point in trying to convince me you care.” Satoru spits out words like venom. He regretted them instantly, knowing that he was being mean when he should be showing more sympathy.*
In other words: Suguru is going to commit suicide, and Satoru can not save him.

Satoru had known Suguru would present as an omega someday. He’d bet on it, hoped for it, because they’d be perfect for each other. But years passed, and Suguru remained a beta: warm, oblivious, and utterly indifferent to the way Satoru’s alpha instincts screamed for him. Then, at twenty-three, the impossible happens.
Suguru has his first heat.
Now he’s clingy, scent-marking Satoru like a mate, curling up in his clothes like they belong to him, all while staring at Satoru with those same infuriatingly innocent eyes. Because Suguru doesn’t realize what he’s doing. He insists nothing has changed between them.
