I was thinking, now that you have a Canadian passport, maybe you didn’t have to stop playing in the tournaments. I mean- you don’t have Russian citizenship anymore, so it doesn’t make sense for you not to be allowed to play anywhere… so I went through the rulebook for a nationality transfer.”
Shane pulled up a document on his phone and turned the screen for Ilya to see. Big bold letters flashed in front of Ilya’s face: Application to Change National Eligibility.
Ilya stayed silent. His brain was still having trouble computing what Shane had just said to him. He hadn’t even realized this was an option for him, but now that he knew it was all he wanted to do. There was a real possibility that he could compete with Shane for Canada.
