Summary
Caitlyn’s ears were ringing from the explosion.
There was smoke and dust all around her, obscuring her vision as she staggered to her feet, trying to process what had just happened. One minute she’d been half-carrying Vi away from the carnage after a Noxian soldier had sliced a nasty cut across her stomach, the next Vi was pushing her away and running to throw herself in front of Jinx, who seemed to be reaching out for the monstrosity that had once been their father. Caitlyn just barely caught a glimpse of a tiny, blue-haired figure crouched underneath the roaring creature before there was an explosion of blue light, the force of it so strong she was knocked off her feet.
Now, she gripped her rifle at her side, scanning desperately through the smoke for any sign of life. The name left her lips like an instinct, panic taking over as she screamed. “Vi! Vi, are you out there? Vi!”

Summary
“A-are you real?” Vi croaks. Too many nights she’s asked this question. Too many nights she’s gotten the same answer. Stoney silence and hints of lavender.
This Caitlyn raises an unimpressed brow. “Of course I’m real,” she says finally.
.....
“You miss me, Cupcake?” she lets her eyes rake over long legs and the blue uniform. “Because I miss you” Vi slurs. Her face itches. The black smudges feel so ingrained into her skin, running deeper than the ink she put there years ago.
Footsteps, tentative but firm, fill Vi’s ears. The thin mattress dips. Fingers grip her chin, the soft leather gloves force her eyes to blink open. She sighs through her nose.
“Or are you here t-to arrest me?” Vi hiccups, trying to challenge her. To goad. To take some semblance of control back.
“This isn’t you, Vi,” Caitlyn whispers. Vi takes her in. This version of her. Angled cheekbones and soft hands. Her face more disappointed than in the club. But there’s something else there. Something almost… real. The booze must've been stronger tonight.

Vi copes with her choices and with the fallout of everything she's ever known.
