Summary
Nancy wanders over to the side of the stairs to read aloud a sticky note left on the wall. The floorboards ache and groan, and that freezing cold panic sets in again, the urge to grab and protect. Just as the wood cracks, a loud splintering noise, he manages to grab Nancy around the waist and yank her backwards so that they fall into a heap on top of floorboards that are not rotten, that are in fact quite sturdy, that hurt like hell to land on with another person on top of you, but are a much preferable pain to the alternative of watching Nancy plummet to her untimely death.
“How many times are you going to save me from falling?” Nancy asks as she rolls off of him, the two of them both staring up at the ceiling. There’s mildew spots near a corner, and he wonders not for the first time why someone would buy this house.
“Too many,” he says first, then he considers the words for a moment and says, softer, “As many times as you need.”
Nancy doesn’t say anything, but her hand fits itself into his for the briefest of moments, squeezed tight. -

Summary
Frank and Joe's flight back to New York gets delayed five hours, and Frank seems happy to spend the entire time napping. Joe gets incredibly bored with no one to talk to, so he texts Sonny a picture of a dog wearing a backpack. Because clearly that's a smart thing to do. Cue Sonny being an asshole about aliens and Joe sexting him completely on accident.

Summary
When Ned hears the Hardy's are in town, he's excited about the idea of getting to see Joe again. When Nancy calls him for one of their bi-weekly phone calls and mentions that Frank is going to take her to dinner, however, he’s not quite as excited as he was before.
Or, Ned convinces himself Frank will be a bad influence on Nancy if they date, so he third wheels like a pro and accidentally develops feelings for Frank along the way.

Summary
Joe could recall investigations when Frank had been more on-edge and he would double-triple-quadruple-eleven times check his work, in every situation. It frustrated Joe, of course, and he didn't understand then.
He doesn't really understand now either.
(A story of two brothers dealing with their own personal struggles and leaning on each other.)

Summary
He’s sixteen before he finally gets it. Sixteen and taking every medical course he can get his hands on as a high school sophomore, which isn’t much. He spends a lot of time at the hospital, following his dad around when he can and sitting quietly in the waiting areas when he can’t, reading schoolwork and extra material he’s found for himself, balancing a PADD and a few paper books on his legs. Sixteen and he comes across the term gender dysphoria and he stares and stares and stares at the same paragraph until his father finds him and says it’s time to go home.

Will’s true sight, as Mike had called it, certainly came at a steep price. His doctors said that the temporary deafness in his right ear was a mere side effect of incident (Dr. Owens had called it an accident, as if Will had accidentally gotten himself possessed. And while Will knows it’s not (entirely) his fault, sometimes before bed he traces the burn scar, faded on his skin but fresh in his memories, and tries to think back to the last time he didn’t have to go to sleep scared). He should regain hearing just in time for the Snow Ball.
But he doesn’t.
