The flashing lights settle on red, painting Maki like the devil himself and coating Nicholas in a velvet fabric of hot shame and embarrassment licking his skin like a flame ready to burn.
"How's that?" Maki murmurs, staring down at him as if he really doesn't know, and that's all it takes for it to burn bright.
Rolling his eyes, Nicholas pushes Maki off of him and stands, dusting himself up and totally not avoiding Maki's eyes. "Too bold."

Summary
Things are different now. The few inches that Maki has on Nicholas allow him to be consumed by Maki's shoulders, his body going limp when Maki presses him against the nearest wall. They kiss as if they need each other to breathe, hands grabbing at clothing and gasps panted into each other's mouths. Nicholas still tastes like the bitterness of alcohol, softened by cherry syrup and minty lip balm.
