Calling Alicent’s music passionless is a stretch, considering she’s put house music on the map again, with millions of listeners on streaming platforms and a recent grammy nomination.
The interviewer adjusts his glasses, a sort of uneasy expression on his features, “if I didn’t know better, I’d think you’d heard her interview where she called your new album-“
“Barbaric?” She barks a laugh almost scarily, “yes I did.” Rhaenyra leans back, licks her lips and looks at the camera like she’s addressing someone directly. “Oh Alicent. Always so tidy, aren’t we? God forbid the bass wobble—I prefer to make a bit of a mess.”
After 5 years away from the London DJ scene to be a producer in L.A., Rhaenyra Targaryen returns to the festival circuit. Just as she’s getting settled back in, she’s chosen to co-headline one of the largest festivals in America with none other than Alicent Hightower, one of the world’s biggest names in House music and her ex best friend.

Summary
And even if getting Rhaenyra in as a soloist was a staggering show of nepotism, she was still the best concert pianist on the planet. It was like when Dmitri Junior recorded Shostakovich’s second. You could get mad about it for a bit, but it was ultimately fair game. Alicent had already reached all these conclusions because Viserys had spoken to her weeks ago about programming the Concerto, which only had the unwanted effect of giving her time to turn it over in her brain like a particularly nauseating Rubix cube. Each solution of the puzzle led her to the same conclusion: she would be seeing Rhaenyra imminently, and there wasn’t a damn thing she could do about it.
After ten years apart, Rhaenyra Targaryen re-enters Alicent's life for a set of solo engagements with her orchestra. Things go about as well as expected (not very).

Rhaenyra’s breath hitched almost unnoticeably, but Alicent noticed, she noticed everything about Rhaenyra. Perhaps that is why it was so easy to hate her, so easy to pick her apart, not out of resentment, but out of jealousy. For what had Alicent been if not jealous? Of Rhaenyra. Of those she loved. Of those she held so dear she was willing to do anything for them. Of the time she once held that very place in Rhaenyra’s heart. What a bitter tapestry she had woven for herself.
“You did, what?” Rhaenyra spoke and Alicent could feel her eyes on her, but Alicent was not sure she could look at her and retain the ability to speak.
“I came here seeking to be absolved.” Alicent could say nothing else, for it was the truth. "

There had been so much pain, so many elements beyond her control that had led to this situation that Alicent had never clearly dared ask herself the question, as if the answer couldn't possibly be simple anyway. And yet the words came to her naturally, like a breath too long held in her lungs.
"Because we hurt each other, mutually."
"Why?"
"Because it was so decided."
"I don't understand," muttered the child.
"I don't understand either," was all Alicent could reply.
It had been four years since Driftmark, since Aemond's lost eye and Rhaenyra's blood. Four years to pray and forget.
Four years after Driftmark, when Alicent thought she had finally forgotten, the maester announced that little Jaehaerys' lungs were sick and that only Dragonstone's sea air could cure him. And, once again, Alicent was forced to remember, to confront a past that was far too heavy, an echo of all she had lost.

Renowned divorce lawyer and as out as she can be without getting scolded by her family, she takes every day as it is given, and will not open her arms (and heart) to the first arrived.
It is good, then, that Rhaenyra Targaryen, star Formula 1 driver for Firelight, prodigy on her way to reign over the Championship, and madly taken by her, is a lot more special than most.
Not that Alicent will make it easy for her.
