Summary
When Kazuha first met the Kabukimono, he was but a child still clinging to his father's legs.
The first thing he noticed was that there was no sound coming from the Kabukimono. In every living creature, there was always a sound. Even a slime has sound coming from within its body, proof of them being alive.
But from this man—this being—he heard nothing.
He was like the wind, blowing through the land without any purpose. Wherever he went, there would be no trace of him having ever existed. As a child, Kazuha did not think much of it. When he saw the being’s beautiful face, all confusion as to why the being had no sound was thrown out the window. He hid behind his father’s leg in embarrassment, causing him to be reprimanded for his lack of manners.
“My deepest apologies, Kabukimono-sama," Kazuha watched his father bow to the being. "My son is a bit shy.”

"Is it bad for me to assume that you're actually enjoying this?" Aether breathed out against Xiao's skin, relishing in the squirms and trembling coming from Xiao.
"That's... because-" Xiao fumbled an answer, seemingly too preoccupied with the stutter of his own hips against Aether's.
"Because?" Aether nibbled above Xiao's collar. Maybe the alcohol was getting to him, after all. He was still lucid enough to reason that this was the hottest outcome that the night could offer him, however.
Or,
Aether reluctantly goes to a party to ensure his sister doesn't get laid while drunk, but he's tipsy, so he's not exactly the best person to do that job when he himself is ready to pounce.

Summary
Something surprising that Aether had learnt about Xiao after becoming partners was that he was a surprisingly gentle lover – nothing like the rumours had made him out to be. As a consequence – and with maybe a few spite-filled hearts – people had begun to speculate that Xiao was the same when he liked someone. That any future lover would feel neglected, like he didn’t care about them. That the sex would be awkward, just a means to an end to quell libido and lust.
It wasn’t long after that Aether found out that they had been wrong.

Summary
The people of Teyvat had a second gender. Alpha, Betas and Omegas, and each of them had a defining scent that shared some similarities, Betas all smelled the same, whereas the traveler had a specific, unique scent that didn't fit with anything known to those people — which only made it even clearer that he was an outlander.
Aether wasn't an Omega, but after witnessing Xiao in rut, a desire so strong took hold of every atom of his being. He might not be an usual Omega, but it was clear he was in heat.
