Rudo forced himself to sink his teeth in his flesh over and over again until skin broke and blood pooled, trickling down his forearms just so he could rip his skin back to reach atrophied muscles and brittle bones because his parents did not provide him with anything.
Not even the proper tools—a knife, scissors, anything really, would have helped—to mutilate himself and this vicious, life-sucking, love hungry plague that they cursed him with.
He would not stop, not for himself, not even for Regto.
“Please, Rudo—why are you doing this? You need to stop—”
Rudo had to do it.
Regto’s begging would not dissuade him.
He had to.
It was the only way he knew that would lull the pain to sleep.
