It wasn’t the fact that it came to war that surprised her the most. Wilhuff had been telling her for years that things were only getting worse in the Rim. Even in the Senate, you could feel it. The tension, the unease. The fear. The Emergency Powers Act passed and with it the Military Creation Act. Lines were drawn and the Galaxy split in two.
No, it was the sudden emergence of an army and overnight creation of military fleets that shocked her the most. A million soldiers arrived from Kamino. The Jedi were peacekeepers, the Jedi were Generals. She felt as though she had woken up on a foreign planet, perhaps in another far away galaxy.
Or, it’s the beginning of the end, and time is running out.
