Summary
The Mighty Nein find themselves on yet another quest to better the world. But unbeknownst to them, they now have an audience. Family members, people they met somewhere in their travels, close friends, are finally getting to see just what this party is made of. Obviously none of them expect it. Nobody looks at the Mighty Nein and thinks them capable unless they've fought on the opposing side. That's no longer the case.
However, it's also true that no one really knows the extent of what they've been through either. Well, that is until the demon they're hunting begins playing back their memories. The worst of them, and they have to figure out a way to hold on to themselves as their loved ones watch on.

Summary
Beau struggles with feelings of self-hatred and Yasha helps her out.
Beau’s room was entirely quiet but for the sound of contented breathing. Yasha’s breathing, her chest rising and falling against the monk’s back. Warm. Suffocating. This day had been the best of her life. The woman. The date. The sex. It was all so perfect, everything she could have ever wanted, and it made her nauseous.
Because her father’s words were plaguing her head now, goaded by her state of exhaustion. She had been happy, then he’d reminded her that she didn’t deserve it as she looked up at herself in the mirror, and saw how the back of her left hand glowed. Foolish, selfish child, he spat, voice like burning coals in the pit of her stomach. The smoke that drifted from them clouded her throat and made it very hard for her lungs to pull in air, but expertly, she kept her wheezing silent. You don’t care about anyone but yourself. When will you learn that the world doesn’t revolve around you. It doesn’t give a shit about you.

“Hello?”
The shadowed figure froze, and suddenly there were two dim pinpricks of light, like eyes, peering out at her. Imogen got to her feet, biting her lower lip when the melody crescendoed into something she interpreted to be fear. And she heard a woman’s voice flicker to life in her mind. Run, she was thinking, run before it hurts.
“Wait.” Imogen held her hands out almost pleadingly. Triiiiiick, hissed the woman’s consciousness, and Imogen shook her head, forgetting in her desperation that she had to pretend not to hear. She just didn’t want this person to run when her mind was so… Well, it was peaceful. Never in her life had she encountered something like it. “Please. I promise I won’t hurt you.”

“Nein,” he gasped again, weakly, pleadingly, clutching her hand with all his might as if he could pull her back down again. How cruel was it that with all the magic he worked so hard to study, he still could not manage to save her life?
Beau pushes Caleb out of the way, and goes down in his place.

“Yasha,” Beau said when she’d gotten to the stairs that led up to the front entrance of the library, and she kissed her wedding ring. “I might run a little late tonight. But Essek and Caleb are still coming for dinner.”
“Just don’t be too long, baby,” came her wife’s voice, whispered like a beautiful thought in her head. “I’m making dessert! Love you.”
“I love you too.” Beau reached the top stair, suddenly feeling a lot better. As always, calling on her wife was the best of exercises to calm herself. And hopefully, she’d soon be home to see her in person. Thank fuck. She just had to get through this one visitor to reach the door, and the afternoon air of Zadash beyond it. Just one person.
Unfortunately, it was then that she saw the figure who was waiting for her, and her stomach dropped to her gut.
2 years after the events of the Mighty Nein, Beau's father shows up at the Cobalt Soul asking for her help. Then a danger comes to Zadash, and the a-hole of a man finally gets to see who Beau really is.
