There’s more people Robert recognises, now. Some of them come up to him and say hello – Bob, David, Tracy. Others just stare and retire to their tables to whisper unsubtly. Sam and Belle Dingle practically recoil when they see him, and hurry over for what Robert can only imagine is an Emergency Dingle Summit with Chas. By the time the pub’s half full, everyone in it seems to be whispering or texting, some doing both at once.
Robert’s starting to feel like this was a bad idea.
Robert's back from prison, only to find that Aaron's married to his long-lost brother - and that he's mysteriously and chronically ill.It's possible those two things are related.

Summary
Robert's presence is jarring- not just because of the intrusion, but because he's clean. Crisp white shirt, hair perfectly tousled, smelling faintly of expensive cologne. It’s a stark contrast to Mack’s rumpled hoodie and the stale air clinging to the room.
Mack shifts uncomfortably, the contrast between them too obvious. Robert doesn’t seem to care- of course he doesn’t. But Mack can’t stop noticing how put-together Robert looks, like someone who’s got their shit together, and that just makes Mack feel more like a mess than he already does, even though he's one hundred percent sure Robert is nowhere near being actually put together.

The pub they meet in is old-fashioned, serving mostly bitter on tap and no food except between twelve and five on Tuesdays to Fridays. Not the sort of place Robert would usually go for a hookup, but it’s only two streets away from his flat and on paper the guy seems exactly the sort he needs tonight. No-nonsense and to the point.
“Robert?” he asks quietly, when Robert folds his coat over his arm and looks at the draught options, and Robert gives him a quick, closed mouth smile, sliding into the stool next to him. He’s fit — fitter than his profile had suggested, even, which doesn’t happen a lot — and strong if the shape of his arms is anything to go by.
“John?” Robert asks casually, like they could be friends of friends or business acquaintances or the like. Things he hasn’t had in a long time.
[Robert gets out of prison and hooks up with a guy on an app.]

Robert pauses, eyes flickering. They really are feline, Aaron thinks, the way they move, the way they look out at the world. Of course, feline doesn't always mean house cat.
Robert shrugs. “I have a TV.”
“Do you?” Aaron hasn't seen TV in years, there's no power outside the city walls any more.
