Deep within Tartarus, something stirred.
It was almost unnoticeable.
It began on what Hades would like to think was his daughter’s birthday. Cerberus was nowhere to be found. He has been mercifully left alone for the time being. He wrote it off as the imagination of an old man, entrenched in his own regrets.
When he sees her the first time, he is not quite sure what he’s looking at. She looked so much like her mother he could only assume it was another trick from Chronos.

Lucerys stumbled through the storm-drenched streets, his breath ragged, his grip bruising on Joffrey’s trembling hand. Rain soaked them to the bone, and the wind screamed like some beast from the stories his mother used to tell. Joffrey whimpered beside him, his small feet slipping on the slick cobblestones, but Luke pulled him forward, refusing to stop.
“Bastards! Find them!” The shouts of the City Watch echoed behind them, close, too close. Luke shoved Joffrey into a shadowed alcove, his own chest heaving as he pressed his shaking hand over his brother’s mouth.
“Be brave,” he whispered, not feeling too brave himself.
