AU in which College graduate Lucy and divorced Cooper exist in a world where the bombs didn’t drop.
Lucy MacLean loves her job, of course she does. She's nearing promotion, she works hard, and at some point, she'll save enough to replace her beat-up Ford and move out of her dad's house. When she decides to take a Sunday to get away from it all, though - to head off into the hills, walk the trails her mother used to love, she's expecting a few hours of exercise and a chance to reconnect with the peace and quiet of nature.
Instead, a split-second decision leads her wildly off course, lost and alone; following a stream in the desperate hope of finding safety. Uninjured but lost, she's found by the last person she expects.

Cooper Howard was lost.
Emotionally, morally, and most crucial to his current situation, literally.
He'd taken to driving, just cruising along country roads and coastal paths, taking himself up into the hills for air; anything to avoid facing the immediacy of his problem.
His wife was going to end the world.
