Summary
Choi Seungcheol is forced to deal with the present while being stuck more than seventy years in the past.
As Captain Korea, he has an obligation, a responsibility to serve and protect, to be confident in himself even when everything feels uncertain. It’s easier to ignore the haunting past when he can push the memories down, leave them to come back in vivid nightmares to be washed off by mornings and missions. That is, until his biggest ghost comes back to haunt him.
Yoon Jeonghan is supposed to be dead. That, Seungcheol is sure of.

Summary
“You’re back,” he says. It comes out rather bland. A stated fact. A man trying to convince himself he’s still breathing.
Jeonghan’s smile falls. A crease appears between his eyebrows. The same one that Seungcheol used to love smoothing out with the pad of his thumb. “Seungkwannie didn’t tell you?”
(OR: A year after leaving Seungcheol to pick up the pieces of what they could have been, Jeonghan comes home.)

Summary
A wild laugh escapes from Seungcheol’s throat. He’s clearly desperate. It’s a little bit funny, honestly. “They’re all so annoying, but I needed them to stop bothering me, so I just told them I have a boyfriend. And that he’s coming with me. So they can all shut up.”
Jeonghan pulls one hand free to grab a packet of creamer. “And you couldn’t think of anyone else to pathetically beg?”
“No, they asked me his name and—”
“You said me?”
“No, I said Yoon Jeonghan,” Seungcheol corrects.
(OR: Seungcheol needs Jeonghan to pretend to be his boyfriend, and Jeonghan needs to stop pretending he’s allergic to love.)

Summary
“He has so many imaginary friends— we all thought he was making you up—” Shota’s dad rushes to explain. He’s blushing furiously. “Chan said he’s never seen anyone—”
“Well,” Jeonghan laughs. He’s been waiting for this moment. “Usually Chan is too busy flirting with some guy on the playground to notice.”
Shota’s dad makes a little noise, almost defeated. His face scrunches up, and for the first time he looks just like Shota. Jeonghan’s chest hurts a little bit.
“Okay. This has been really insightful,” he says. He waves a hand in the air, eyes failing to meet Jeonghan’s. “I’m going to have to talk with him about that— uh— I’m sorry, you’ve been, like, babysitting my kid three times a week, apparently.”
(OR: Seungcheol learns about the inherent homoeroticism of sitting on a park bench with his kid’s imaginary friend.)
