Eventually, Arthur had enough. “Come on, Merlin. Whatever it is must be important, and you’re clearly -” Arthur waved his hand impatiently in Merlin’s general direction, “- trying to find the right moment. Well, this is me telling you, this is the right moment. Go ahead.”
Merlin looked to the side. “You’re mistaken, Sire.” Then, half a beat too late for their usual bickering, he added: “As usual.”
“See, Merlin, I don’t think I am.” Arthur leaned back in his chair. “The only question is what it could be, that makes you want to tell me but not want to tell me at the same time.”

Tony is a volatile person.
He reminds himself of Howard, and he can’t stand it. He never wanted to turn out like him, and it kills him that apparently he couldn’t stop it.
Because here he stands, palm smarting, with the last heat of his anger doused by ice-cold shock, and he sees the feeling mirrored in Pepper’s slack jaw, her mouth slightly open.
Her hand slowly rises to cover her cheek, and he can’t breathe.

It was a Friday in October, and MJ and Peter had been invited to a party. It was Cindy who had invited them, and she had invited them as a couple. And that changed things, as far as MJ was concerned.
She snuck a glance at Peter. He looked pleased, and that made something in MJ’s stomach flutter. Unpleasantly. (Not that unpleasantly.)
“Sure”, she said to Cindy. “Sounds fun. We’ll come.”
Things sort of deteriorate from there.
