The overtime was not worth it.
Harry could not believe his luck.
Of all the crews, it was him. Of course it was him.
Harry finds himself off work after working a suicide call where the patient died that affected his mental health. Combine that with his own struggles, Gemma’s shit boyfriend, and of course Louis’ ongoing struggle with PTSD, and Harry is at his limit. And then he gets a text from Louis, and Harry wishes more than anything he could go back a week and never take that extra shift.

“Oh-lee-syah,” Shane repeated slowly, making sure he pronounced it right. “What… what are you going to do?”
“I don’t know,” Ilya said, resting his head in his hand. “I don’t fucking know.”
Shane’s voice was steady. “What can I do?”
How long had it been since someone offered to help Ilya? He took care of his family, carried his brother’s financial burdens, tended his own injuries, paid his way through life without aid. The question, softly spoken and rich with genuine intent, was enough to bring tears to his eyes. Could he really trust it? Could he ask someone for help?
For once, he wanted to try.OR: Ilya is left with sudden custody of Alexei's daughter and calls Shane to help.

Summary
This is the deal: Ilya and Shane don't know each other. Shane’s there to relax. He’s there to grab a beer and watch whatever’s on the bar TV and speak to no one. Ilya might approach him, or might not. It’s not up to Shane. If he has to wait, he waits. No questions once they’re in it, but there will be nothing unsafe, no doing anything that’d show up on a medical. Shane’s job is to trust—to believe a little.
Again, this is the deal: Shane takes what he’s given.

A statement released in July, 2022 on the official Centaurs social media channels:
"In October of last year, Shane and Ilya became temporary foster parents to one of the students that had participated in the Irina Foundation's hockey camps after he was abandoned by his birth parents for coming out as queer. Since then they have pursued first permanent foster placement and adoption. That adoption was granted and finalized this month. Mac Hollander-Rozanov has been in many pictures that, with his permission, are being re-edited and re-uploaded to remove the emojis that were used to protect his identity in accordance with the government's guidelines."
An additional paragraph added to a photo Ilya and Shane shared to their personal Instagrams:
"Family looks different for everyone, and our family is no different. Mac is our son, and we are so incredibly proud of him and his achievements. We hope that the hockey community will be as respectful of him as they are of other children of players."

“Y-Yeah, totally,” Shane replied. “D-Do you uh– do you know who that kid with Rozanov is?”
Scott laughed a little, tilting his head in confusion.
“Probably Rozanov’s kid,” he informed Shane, causing his brain to stall completely.
“You didn’t hear?” Scott asked, and Shane blinked, trying to reboot his mind from the crash that Scott had just caused. “It’s why he took time off,” Hunter informed him. “Found out he had a kid, I guess. Or something like that, I didn’t really get the details.”
Of all the reasons he’d thought of for Ilya disappearing for the past month, this had never crossed his mind. A million different thoughts raced through Shane’s mind. How the hell was Ilya a dad, and why hadn’t he told Shane and how the fuck did Scott Hunter of all people find out before him and—
And what the fuck was Shane supposed to do now?

After the tuna melt situation, Ilya suddenly disappears from hockey for six weeks, claiming some sort of family emergency. Shane showed up to the All-Star game ready to try and fix things, only to be shocked to find a little girl at Ilya's side with remarkably familiar blue eyes.

Summary
