Tsukishima: How’d it go?
Kageyama frowns. Tsukishima is being very friendly lately. Don’t get him wrong, Kageyama appreciates the friendlier environment, he just doesn’t get it.
Kageyama: Ok
Kageyama: No wait, no it wasn’t ok
Tsukishima frowns at the phone. It went ok or it didn’t? He sighs. When Yamaguchi started dating Yachi he had less time to spend with Tsukishima, which Tsukishima was fine with. Really. Yamaguchi wasn’t. He begged Tsukishima to be nicer to the other first years, to make friends so that he would have someone to talk to and hang out with. No matter how many times he assured Yamaguchi he was fine, his freckled friend wouldn’t budge. Tsukishima isn’t sure if Yamaguchi’s new found tenacity was due to his ever increasing skill and confidence with volleyball or due to his new girlfriend’s influence (although Yachi was scared of a mouse fart, but who knows). Either way, he gave in and decided to be nicer to the dynamic duo (Kageyama and Hinata).
Tsukishima: Well, which is it King?
Kageyama: He thinks I like you
Tsukishima had been taking a drink of water and now he was choking on it. Kageyama and Tsukishima? Not fucking likely!

There are plenty of reasons people don’t like walking into work early on a Monday morning, but Kei can safely say that thinking you might find a dead body on the floor of your workroom is not one of them. Not only are the police underfoot but management is breathing down his neck, his boss is on maternity leave, the Egyptology collection needs to be inventoried, and his assistant might just die of shock himself.
Oh, and one of the detectives on the case is his ex-boyfriend.
Kei doesn't quite know which is worse: being caught up in a murder mystery in his own damn department, dealing with the idiots around him, or working with the ex he's still in love with. He might have to catch the killer to find out.
