Summary
Tommy laughed, pointing his branch into the air, proclaiming his victory against an invisible army. “That’s what you get for challenging Thomas Innit! I am king!”
The world flickered. The field was cast in ash, grasses burnt to yellow and black, trees smoldering against a red sky.
It was barely a vision, but it left Techno’s hands gripping the grass, looking at the young prince with a desperation that he would never see, too busy slicing at the air.
“Spar! Parry! Recover!” The words he was shouting were almost nonsense, slightly mispronounced. Tommy had absolutely no idea what their meanings were, and it was just as endearing as Phil had promised. “Yield!”
A red sky, a metal sword, a discarded emerald.
Blue sky. The sky was blue today. Techno took in a breath, worried he would breathe in ash, but all he could smell was pollen.
“Uncle Techno?”

Summary
Tommy was an average boy, he didn't have any kind of special talent or ability for anything (except for his ability to somehow fail drama class) and he didn't have all too much going for him. He was fine with that. He didn't really want to be anything special, he just wanted to get through life as easily as possible.
Simply put Tommy was content with his completely average life.
Which is why it felt so unfair when it all got ripped away from him.
(Or, Tommy gets kidnapped and is tasked with saving the universe by some vague space prophecy. He's not very happy about this.)
