Summary
If the Ministry's response to the world's most infamous Dark Wizard being raised from the dead is complete denial, it should be no surprise that they don't even notice when the second most infamous Dark Wizard goes missing.
When Gellert Grindelwald escapes prison after getting a vision of Albus Dumbledore's death, he learns that Hogwarts is looking for yet another Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor. Summary
Two past lovers, friends, allies... Some might say they're hiding from each other. But that is only part of the truth - both feel betrayed by the other, and lonely without him. Both are keeping more secrets than they care to admit.
After the Paris ralley, the Ministry of Magic allies with its French counterpart to force Albus Dumbledore into working for them. Using the suspicious deaths in his family, they create a false case against Aberforth that will be dropped under only one condition: Albus has to solve their Grindelwald problem.

What precisely happens when a spark turns to a flame? It is 18:16 in the afternoon on a sunny late September Saturday in 1928, and Albus Dumbledore has once more done the unthinkable – attach himself lips-first to the man who happens to be the love of his life, and his biggest enemy simultaneously.
Although, this, of course, is a lie. They are neither, and both, and so much less, and so much more. They ARE. They are! They are... something? Well, Gellert Grindelwald quite certainly knows what they are, and are to be. So does Albus. Pity, only, that these two [imbeciles] never do have a heart-to-heart to see whether their opinions for once actually align...
Accompany them as they fool the ministries on numerous occasions, break people out of prison, fight for the rights of Lycanthropes, dance at a variety of balls, explore the concept of exile, eat, of course, numerous delicacies, make ground-breaking discoveries, commit crimes and do right by people, meet old friends and make new enemies, and just overall somehow stay alive through it all.
But beware: Not all fae-tale stories have a happy ending...
