Summary
The man shrugs, extracts one, places it into his mouth and picks his pen up again. He rubs crumbs onto the paper, then brushes them off onto the table. Kento’s jaw twitches. Silence descends upon them. Kento watches the man write in messy strokes, chuckle and grunt and sigh. He’s grading papers Kento realizes, moving through a hefty stack and staining the trailing edges of his cardigan in ink that’s slow to dry in the cool air.
“You teach?”
And Kento only wants to know because the work on the paper appears to be highly convoluted mathematical equations.
Blue eyes jump back up to him.
“I do. I teach theoretical quantum physics at the university and do a specialized course focussed solely on Hegel. If you’re interested I only teach it in the fall.” The man winks.
“You teach quantum physics?”
“Theoretical quantum physics, yeah,” the man smiles a little oddly at Kento, before he beams. “Do I not look the part?”
In which two men become linked regardless of the distance separating them.

Nanami was teetering on the edge of something he didn’t want to face. He turned to leave, wanting to slip away from this conversation, this situation.
“I should go,” he breathed.
“Please don’t run away again, Nanami.” Gojo’s voice had a pleading edge to it.
Nanami stiffened. He took a shuddering breath and turned back to face Gojo, resolve hardening his features.
“I won’t leave you again.”
And there it was - the crack in the wall.

In fact, she had made her decision before they had even arrived at the battlefield; knew what she needed to do, if things went this way. She was always going to save him, because Satoru deserved to be saved too.
“Shoko,” Utahime says, voice tense and disbelieving as if she understood that Shoko had already made her choice, that she stood firm in it. As if she couldn’t comprehend why Shoko had chosen it, why she would waste her time trying to resurrect a corpse when living people were dying and needed her help.
Shoko just opens the door.
“You shouldn’t underestimate my friend, Utahime. It’s never gotten you anywhere.”
Or, Satoru Gojo lives.
