“Shane.” Ilya mumbled, Shane feeling him shift slightly on his lap. It sounded slightly like an inquiry, like he was testing to see if Shane would respond. Shane glanced down at him, his fingers moving to turn the page of his book.
“Yes, Ilya?”
“Would you still love me if I was a worm?” He asked. There was a strangeness to his voice. And a strangeness to the question. Did Shane hear him right?
“A what?”
“A worm.” Ilya repeated. Shane furrowed his brows.
