Summary
He and Yuna had a long talk after Shane first came out. About their son, of course, but about Rozanov as well, and how different the man sitting at their table had been from the man they watched on the ice. Rozanov, as a hockey player, was arrogant, crass, and merciless; checking, chirping, cutting across the ice like he’d never known warmth beyond it. But Ilya, as their son’s boyfriend, was oddly… careful. He wound his composure tight, was fleetingly gentle beneath his and Yuna’s gaze but freely gave comfort when he thought they were alone, and scarily attuned to Shane, considering how little time they’d actually spent together.
Although, David supposes, when you’re afforded only three or four opportunities to meet each year, then you’d drink in every detail of those encounters like a drowning man.
OR
David and Yuna host Ilya for dinner. What can go wrong?

Summary
He’s made Ilya drink a glass of water, but the kitchen is far too clean. Ilya forces migration like geese, and in doing so, slits open the carapace he’s been covering himself with since opening the door. He’s not eaten, as evidenced by the lack of dishes capitalizing the sink. It’s impossible to tell how long it’s been from an empty sink, but judging by the way Ilya’s hands are shaking when they finally drop back to his sides, Shane would say way too fucking long. Were he less panicked, he would have thought to add an electrolyte package.
