“Glad you came,” the man said. He pushed away from the lamppost and approached Anakin, his hand held out for him to take. “I realized I never properly introduced myself. I’m Major Kenobi, but you can call me Obi-Wan.”
Anakin took his hand and shook it, their touch lingering for just a little longer than was normally acceptable. It felt like holding on to fire. “Flying Officer Skywalker. But most call me Anakin.”

An accident in 1944 over the fields of France puts an end to Anakin’s flying career. Discharged and sent back to Canada, Anakin must confront the ghosts of his past and find a new path forward.

Summary
Anakin's going into heat, which is a complication he can't afford during his final mission with Obi-Wan. Therefore, he'll do anything to hide his preheat from Obi-Wan. After Anakin's ultimate betrayal, another lie can't deteriorate their abysmal relationship anyway.
Never mind that this mentality cost him Obi-Wan's regard and his Padawan in the first place.
So, it shouldn't be surprising that his approaching heat becomes the least of his problems. Some secrets can't be hidden so easily, which includes the distinctly bird-like features Anakin develops in an allergic reaction to his scent patches.

“Anakin,” Obi-Wan repeated, voice quiet. “Who took you there?”
Anakin's mouth opened up, and nothing came out at first, just a tiny croak of air. But he concentrated on Obi-Wan’s warmth on his shoulder. This time, he forced the words out, like pushing air through a clogged pipe.
“Mr. Palpatine.”
And the moment it released into the air, he felt he’d just thrashed a gong the way the sound, as small as it was, filled their apartment. He swallowed as Obi-Wan stared at him.
“The Chancellor,” he said.
(Or: A distraught Anakin comes home from somewhere he shouldn't have been, Obi-Wan is concerned, and the world rights itself from their conversation. Also, f*** Palpatine.)
