He felt cold sweat drip down his back, his loose shirt clinging to his skin like sticky paper. He glanced around with the corner of his eye; he was alone in the street, except he could feel a stare on his back; he couldn't prove it, but he knew it. The photo in his hand only confirmed it.

She watched as Sae dropped her two cards on the table without much care, as if she were accustomed to the motion and it was just another regular Tuesday for her.
Sae put her chin on her left hand, using her other free hand to point lazily to her set of cards, then at Shidou’s, “Three sevens wins over your two pairs,” she said, utterly bored. She picked up the discarded cards on the table and put them back with the rest, shuffling them while she stared at Shidou.
She leaned over the table to leave the deck of cards in the middle, her stare fixed on Shidou like a predatory animal ready to jump over its next meal. “Well?” she asked, expectantly.
