Summary
When logic fails and rational thought reaches its limits, there can only be one plausible reason: feelings are involved. Shikamaru doesn't want to accept or allow them at first, yet they don't vanish as easily as he would like. From a logical standpoint, he has no chance with her: Temari was popular, successful, and came from a wealthy family. He, on the other hand, lived on a modest scholarship that made it possible for him to attend university in the first place. But what happens when heart and mind cannot come to an agreement?

Summary
Some defense attorneys are so anti-prosecutor, they cannot hold an amiable conversation. Temari has never understood that perspective.
And, of course, she's always been told the old adage you catch more flies with honey. As though he'll work better with her if they're not arguing all the time.
That's why she's here and talking with him. That's why she's agreed to this single drink even after finding out who she'll be drinking with. That's why she's leaning closer and feeling the ache along the back of her tongue. That's why.
Like she's honey and he's something to be caught.

Summary
Temari eyes the man. "You're hitting on me."
"I'm not."
"You are."
"Do you want me to be?"
God, he's so annoying.
She can feel how annoying he is all the way in her fingertips. Feel it thrum into the corners of her mouth that she has to fight to keep from pulling up.

Summary
“So if I walk closer, you’re going to…what, teleport? Respawn?”
“Something like that.” He responded.
“No wonder you smell so lonely.”
“I still don’t know what that means.” He said, standing up from the bed. “If anyone touches me, I pop to the nearest bed. Usually mine. Sometimes, the one at my mom’s house she keeps for me, which is worse. I can be bumped in a crowd and—” He mimed a cutaway. “Gone.”
“So you’re allergic to contact.”
“That’s the working theory.”
She chewed on that, mouth curving like she wanted to make a joke and was deciding if he could handle it. “And yet you invited a woman you barely know to your apartment.”
“You texted ‘come now,’” he said. “I’m not very bright.”
