Summary
FAMILY FRIENDLY. AU. ArchiveOfOurOwn has adult-themed Harry Potter fanfic stories whose summaries includes this sentence, “Hogwarts starts at [age X, where X > 11].” The sentence is there because readers do not want to read about first-year girls FroliCKING unless the girls already are pimple-faced and curvy. But I see a problem with Hogwarts operating this way.
In this story the question is answered: If at Hogwarts even firsties are old enough that they can legally consent to sex, and seventh-years do not sit their NEWTs till they are 22 or 23, would Hermione become a Hogwarts firstie? What would happen if Hermione said no?

Summary
AU. Harry accidentally Apparates to an empty Grimmauld Place when he’s nine instead of to the top of the school roof when he escapes Dudley’s gang. The house is empty except for portraits and sometimes a speaking wooden face, and Harry has to kill his own food, and there’s something nasty in the cellars, and some of the portraits are mad. But this is still a vast improvement over the Dursleys.
