Clarke leaves Camp Jaha after the events of the Mount Weather, unable to live with what she'd done. After three weeks of struggling to survive on her own she is found, captured, and brought to Azgeda where she comes face to face with Queen Nia and an unexpected enemy. Two years later, after being blackmailed, tortured, and trained, Clarke is forged into the ultimate weapon: an assassin known as the Shadow. With Clarke under her command and the annual Summit approaching, Nia brings Clarke to Polis with a plan to make the Commander suffer and to take over the coalition. In Polis, Clarke finally comes face to face with her friends from Skaikru and with the Commander herself, all who have a million questions that Clarke can't answer. Clarke must find a way to walk the fine line between serving a Queen who she despises, keeping her identity as the Shadow a secret, and working with the Commander and her friends to keep the coalition together.
