Philippe muss Frankreich, seinen Bruder (den König), seinen Lebensgefährten (Chevalier de Lorraine) und seine Ehefrau (Liselotte von der Pfalz) vor niederländischen Partisanen in der Nähe von Versailles retten, wofür er sich eine düstere Legende aus dem Krieg gegen die Niederlande zu nutze macht.
