Summary
“9-1-1, what’s your emergency?”
“T-This is Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz, off-duty firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department. We were caught in a landslide in Griffith Park. W-We need help.”
“Evan?”
The word barely rolled over her tongue, it still feels like it is stuck in her throat. Under no circumstances did she ever want to hear her brother’s voice on a 911 call.
“M-Maddie? Oh thank god it’s you! W-We really need your help.”
Buck’s words sound breathless and strained.
“Oh my god, it’s really you… What happened?”
The immediate fear she feels for her brother and Eddie is clawing at her. A hundred scenarios pop into her mind with a terrifying colorfulness that is fed by years of answering distress calls. Until she knows exactly what is going on her brain will concoct the most ghastly nightmare she didn’t even know she was capable of making up.
“We were caught up in a landslide and now we’re trapped in Eddie’s truck underneath the masses. We can’t get out,” Buck says.

Or, Buck and Eddie are caught in a landslide, fighting for their lives, and Maddie is a freaking badass who saves the day. -

“In an incredible turn of events firefighter Buckley is alive and mostly unharmed. What could have ended in a devastating tragedy finds its happy ending after all,” Taylor moderates, her words shaky with relief as the camera focuses on the scene behind her. The crowd starts clapping and cheering the moment Eddie and Buck emerge from the rubble. “What an absolute relief that firefighter Buckley made it out alive and that we now see-” Taylor turns around, only to come to a stuttering stop at witnessing the spectacle in front of her “-my boyfriend kissing his best friend.”
Or, Taylor gets a second shot at accompanying the 118 for another segment and notices that her boyfriend is a lot closer to his best friend than she remembers.

“I’m rating today’s Buck and Eddie show a solid nine out of ten. The only reason why I deducted a point is because I thought it was a bit too early for a relationship crisis. As an active viewer of the program I think it’s too soon to depart the honeymoon arc. But props on the romantic setting and poetic love confession,” Chim says.
“He’s not wrong. We all think the main hero needs to believe a little bit more in himself. Have more confidence, Buck,” Hen says.
Eddie’s knee bumps Buck’s to get his attention.
“Hear that? Have more confidence in yourself,” he says, wagging his eyebrow pointedly.

Summary
Buck smiles, blinking the tears away, trying to see through the heavy smoke. He’s going to be fine. Eddie is going to save him.
It’s the last thought he has when his grip on the ledge slips away and suddenly he’s falling. One second ago he is still clutching to the ledge and the next the fire from the window beside him bursts and he’s tossed into the air.
He stares into the sky above him, his arm still reaching for safety, waiting to feel the telltale sensation of familiar fingers wrapping around his wrist. But it never comes. Neither does Eddie.

Or in the aftermath of Eddie leaving, Buck can't seem to let go of him.

Summary
Laura Hale had spent about two-thirds of her life with her little brother, so she knew him pretty well. She knew all of his quirks and his struggles, and so she was very aware of the fact that he was immensely, dangerously, territorial—and he always had been. He was far more in touch with his wolf side than the rest of their family, which often caused issues when it came to anyone attempting to interact with him. Gods forbid you accidentally get your scent on his clothes or in his den. Reaching your hand a bit too close to his food would end with you losing the appendage. But it was fine—everyone knew Derek’s boundaries, as odd as they seemed.
What Laura did not know, was how the hell the spastic little human ball of annoying sounds and flailing arms (known as Stiles Stilinski) had just jumped onto her brother while he was sleeping and didn't get ripped apart.
[or: 5 times laura noticed that her grumpy, territorial brother seemed have an affinity for Stiles, and 1 time she put the pieces together and realized what that meant]
