Summary
John Winchester is a con man and criminal. He drags his two sons around the country. Pocket picking, pool hustling, and the occasional armed robbery get the small family by. Once in a while, for the big jobs, John will require the help of his eldest. If there’s one thing Dean has learned well in his eighteen years, it’s that you don’t say no to John.
It’s on one such job gone terribly wrong that Dean hears sirens and it a moment the course of his life is changed forever. John leaves the scene, and his son, and Dean finds himself suddenly thrust into the Kansas prison system. With a sudden lack of responsibility and a guaranteed place to sleep every night Dean is oddly relieved about his incarceration. That relief eventually turns to gratitude when Dean develops a relationship with his bad-ass cell mate.

“Not curious enough to get stabbed.”
Buck ponders the downsides of getting stabbed versus getting answers.
“Buck.”
“No, I know! I know!” he concedes. “I, Even Buck Buckley, promise not to get myself stabbed in the noble pursuit of knowledge.”

"Cherry Top’s," Buck supplies, grinning into the phone.
"Right, yeah,” Eddie confirms, smile audible. “Took forever to get a sip.”
“Yeah, they uh…” Buck agrees, voice catching slightly. “They really make you work for those, huh?”
God, Buck doesn’t even know how they got here.
