It was obvious, at least to Tails who could read his brother like a book of aerospace engineering, in his grin that had the corner of his lips slightly downturned and in the way his shoulders were more hunched than usual. There was tension in his whole frame that shouldn’t be there after a mission well done.
Both of his friends were suffering. And it was all his fault.
Was he doing the right thing? After all, he got them into this mess, he got them hurt. It doesn’t matter that Eggman started it, they were suffering because they cared about him and tried to protect him. He should have been better, he should have figured it out before it got too bad, he should have–

Potom, co se musel šest měsíců vypořádávat s přízračnými projekcemi, Sonic potřebuje najít způsob jak poznat, že Tails je opravdu Tails a ne Infinitova iluze. Kódové slovo. Něco, co by poznal jen skutečný Tails.
Sonic o svém blbuvzdorném plánu Tailsovi neřekne. Dopadne to tak dobře, jak si jen můžete představit.

Skrz Jindru prolétl šok jako mrazivý vítr a on hbitě zpozorněl. „Květoduska?‟ zopakoval nevěřícně. Krk mu najednou vyschl. „To jako Máří Magdalena?‟
Nikdy skutečně nevěřil báchorkám o světcích a mučednících, kteří vykašlávali květiny. Bylo to něco, co se dělo před tisíci lety a co bylo vyryto do latinského Písma svatého na osvětlených listech. Ne dnes, ne jemu.

Something inside Yor simply… stopped.She didn’t scream. She didn’t cry. She only stared, eyes wide and glassy, as if reality had twisted into the shape of an impossible sentence.
“That’s…” Her voice cracked, very softly. “That can’t be. No, no… he-he left for work this morning. He said he’d be home for dinner.”
“We’re very sorry.”
The words did nothing. They thudded against a wall of disbelief so thick it barely absorbed them.
Behind her, Anya felt the policemen’s thoughts like needles.
