At first the Adepti didn't notice anything at all, the presence so small and weak it was barely a spark in the vast Realm of Dreams. However as the presence steadily grew it didn't take long for them to discover it. Still on edge from the whole incident with Khaenri'ah only a century before the Adpeti fear the presence may be a threat so to no avail they try to find it's source.
As time passes without further incident Morax seeing no ill will from the presence decided to stop actively searching for the source but advised all the Adepti to keep an eye on it anyway. For the next few years this is how it stays until one day a Karma ridden Xiao takes refuge within the Realm of Dreams as he struggles to overcome the built up Karma unknowingly setting off an entire chain of events
Or in which Aether's slumbering body lands in Liyue which is so rich in Adeptal Energy that Aether is able to have an elevated consciousness even while asleep. This leads to him becoming an Honorary Adeptus instead of an Honorary Knight.

“I’m Geto,” he says back. You were Suguru to me, Gojo thinks. “Nice to meet you, Satoru.”
“Nice to meet you, too.” He leans against the wall beside him, tries to look nonchalant as he does. “So, do you come here often?”
Geto thinks Gojo is just a lonely guy who wants friends. Gojo just wants to know if he remembers him, even just a little bit.

Unspoken feelings, and the events of the last 4 years, including that faithful night explode out in a series of arguments and misunderstandings as he comes back to a man he no longer can recognize behind the mask that he's so carefully crafted.
