“I’m sorry.” Ace whispers. She takes a step closer, “I’m so sorry.”
Jana takes a step back before she turns. She walks away. She looks back only once; Ace would remember a few years down the road. Jana looked back once as if hoping, bargaining, that she would change her mind.
