Summary
They were thirteen when Klaus had his first serious overdose. It was a turning point in their adolescence, for all of them, seeing how vulnerable they could be – right at the age where it was easy to think that they were invincible
.
He noticed the water creeping slowly out from underneath the door slowly, and Diego stared at it for a full minute, a frown burrowing on his face, as the puddle grew and reached Allison’s shiny new sneakers. Then he seemed to hear the silence coming from the locked bathroom, and realised that of all siblings, Klaus had the least self-control for silence – especially if he was only being quiet to goad their sister. A sick feeling began to manifest in his stomach, and he opened his mouth to say something but no words came out.

Summary
“Jesus fucking Christ,” he cursed, “lookout doesn’t work if no one listens to the lookout.”
A flash of blue ahead of him signalled the appearance of Five, but Klaus already knew that they were both going to be too late. He made a split second decision to change direction slightly, and he skidded off to the left, towards the area of empty space between the gun and Diego and Allison.
The gun went off, Klaus threw himself forward, and the sounds of the shots were lost among the pure chaos.
.
A bank robbery mission where things go very badly very quickly, and lessons are learned the hard way.

Summary
A collection of times in which the Hargreeves siblings tried to get through to Klaus about his drug habits. Most of the time they don't succeed, but they're trying. It's exhausting though, watching someone self-destruct.
.“No, Klaus!” Ben had yelled, beyond exasperation as he lunged for his brother, but Klaus managed to dance out of the way just in time.
Luther started forward then, as if to corner Klaus, and they could all hear the trademark Reginald Hargreeves tone to his voice, “Klaus, I swear if you take those—Klaus!”
“Jesus Christ,” Diego finished, as his brother loudly crunched down on the pills.

Summary
Diego was the one who stole the first bottle of whiskey from Sir Reginald’s cabinet. Later, he regrets it, but how could they have known? A look at how Klaus finds himself drawn to the uncomfortable numbness of it all. His siblings don't understand but he needs this, really needs this, and little do they know how much worse things can (and will) get.
.
Klaus sat curled up in the corner of his room, hands gripping the sides of his head, feeling anything but alone in the empty room. His fingers pressed into his scalp let off tiny darts of pain that danced up his hands, but did nothing to distract him from the crippling fear that consumed him.
He took a breath, his senses so overwhelmed that it felt like he had been set alight, and howled.
And that, of all the things that had happened and that were still to come, was the perfect catalyst for Klaus’ downfall.

Summary
A look into what Klaus' newly discovered ability could mean for the siblings.
.
Diego could feel his whole body trembling as he faced the ghosts, only able to take shallow breaths as he struggled to process the true horror of what he was seeing.
And then they started howling.
The sound pierced though his stupor and forced him to his knees instantly. It was like nothing Diego had ever experienced before, and he was consumed with the intensity and overwhelmed by a deep chilling fear. It felt as though his mind had been taken over and all he could hear was the shrieks of grief, more intense than any emotion he had ever felt.

Summary
A late night call from the police station isn't anything unfamiliar to Mike, if anything it's a blast from the past. He knows how to deal with this, has had plenty of practice with his other brother in years gone by - but instead of seeing Axl’s lanky form leaning against the wall like he had been expecting— there’s a teenager with tufty blonde hair that’s frowning at him in confusion. The kid looks haggard and exhausted, but so familiar, and he’s dressed in an oversized suit.
Mike feels all the air leave his lungs as he stares at the boy, feeling a sick feeling begin to manifest deep in his stomach. Because this just isn’t possible, but yet somehow there’s that grin on the teenager’s face, and there’s no way that it can be anyone but—
“Anders?”

His brother's name is the fiercest battle cry ever made, the most sorrowful sound in the world, the most treasured possession he has ever laid claim to. It’s the last thing that he can do, his final ode to the other half of his soul. He thinks that he may be dead already, in a world where only he exists.

Summary
Two-part series in which I delve into two possible sides of Jasper Jordan that could result from his imprisonment in Mount Weather.
First up: "His fingers scrabble at the window, which has chicken wire laced through it to keep him even more confined, and slams his shoulder, face, fists against the unrelenting surface. Jasper feels primal, and raw, because he’s got nothing else to lose, and he knows it. He will tear this building to the ground, and revel in the destruction."
Secondly: "The walls are always there, always white, and there’s a comforting aspect to the regularity with which the room never deviates from. There’s safety in this lack of movement, of caring, and he relishes in the blank embrace of the white walls. Finally, for the first time in his life, Jasper doesn't feel like he’s struggling."
